Science
Color Symphony
Supplies: a flat baking tray, food coloring, whole milk, liquid soap
1. Pour milk into the tray so it covers the bottom
2. Add 6-8 drops of different colored food coloring onto the milk in different spots
3. Add 5 drops of liquid soap onto the drops of food coloring and watch the show!
How does it work?
When you drop the liquid soap onto the tray, it tries to break down the fat in the milk. While it is doing this, it causes the colors to scatter and mix creating a very colorful display.

Chemistry Cleans a Penny
Supplies: a few old pennies, 1/4 c. white vinegar, 1 t. salt, plastic bowl, paper towels
1. Pour vinegar into the bowl and add the salt - stir it up
2. Put 5 pennies into the bowl and count to 10 slowly
3. Take out the pennies and rinse them out in some water
How does it work?
The vinegar is an acid, and the acid in the vinegar reacts with the salt to remove what chemists call copper oxide which makes pennies dull.
