Jenni graphed our family's SUVs, bicycles, and cars - my SUV, Eric's work SUV, Jenni and Joshua's bicycles and our family car.
 Numbers 2, 3, and 7
There seems to be some overlap between Saxon Math K (which we finished Jenni's Pre-K year) and Saxon Math 1 (which we started this week). There is a good amount of time spent reviewing concepts Jenni already knows, but we will continue doing the beginning lessons since Jenni enjoys all things math.

This week Jenni completed Lessons 1-7. Each morning in the Math Meeting Book (not pictured) Jenni reads the date, writes the full date (month, date, and year), graphs the weather (sunny, cloudy, rainy, snowy), counts using the hundred number chart, and reviews right and left.

All About Reading, Level 1

Reading the word and gluing it under the picture
Rhyming words
Feeding the monster after she reads each word
Fluency chart - words, phrases, sentences
Jelly Bean Bingo
We are LOVING All About Reading!

This week Jenni completed Lessons 1-5. We reviewed all the consonant letter sounds, the short vowel sound for a, and sight words the and a. Jenni read different words, phrases and sentences, completed the activity sheets and games, and continued learning new rhyming words. At the end of the week she read two stories from our AAR Level 1, Volume 1 book.

Explode the Code, Book 2

Lesson 1: Initial consonant blends bl, cl, fl, gl

Daily Science
Jenni: "Now that I'm in kindergarten, I think I'll starting writing my name as Jennifer."
Soon after, she went back to writing Jenni with a heart over the i. :)

Big Idea 1, Week 1: Can a rock grow?
Jenni learned that some things grow, and some things do not. Rocks cannot grow like plants and animals do, because rocks are not living things. She also learned that living things need food, water and air to survive. Vocabulary words: grow, living, nonliving, survive.

Beginning Geography

We are continuing to work on map directions and remembering the four main directions on a map are north, south, east, and west.
