A Doctor's Visit

This little boy has had a terrible cough. No other symptoms really. But he coughs so hard that he ends up getting sick. Started on Thanksgiving day.
So I made an early morning appointment and just for fun, decided we should go eat at a donut store before.
This is the second time in his little life that Jackson has had donuts. He doesn't really eat much because he spends the majority of the time watching customers come in and out of the store.
But he knows that he is somewhere special!

Doctor: "Who am I checking today?"
Joshua: "Me! That's why I'm sitting up here!"
Doctor: "Why are you here, Joshua?"
Joshua: "That's a silly question. I'm sick!"
Doctor: "What's wrong?"
Joshua: "I cough all the time and throw up a lot. It's okay though, my mom cleans it up if it's not in the toilet. My mom also lets me drink Gatorade. Lots of Gatorade. I even have some in my backpack! My mom said I can't drink it now, but I can in the car."
Doctor: "How did you get sick?"
Joshua: "I don't know!"
Doctor: "Did your sickness just fall out of the sky?"
Joshua: "WHAT! That's silly. That's not even possible."
Doctor: "Well let me check your breathing."
Joshua: "I hope I don't need a shot. My mom said I not getting a shot. Am I getting a shot?"
Doctor: "No shots today!"
Jenni: "I'm all done with my shots. You'll have to get some shots when you're four, Joshua."
Joshua: "WHAT?!"

This was the most eventful trip to the doctor's. We waited over an hour in the exam room. One child was talking two octaves too high. Another child was coughing and throwing up on the carpet. "It's ok. My mom is good at cleaning it up." As Joshua hands me paper towels. The third child kept having dirty diapers. It smelled so awful the nurse moved us rooms. Life is fun with three littles. You just never know what kind of day it's going to be.

Restful Times

This boy has stolen our hearts. Sweet Joshua Gabriel. I tell this little boy how much I love him daily and he just smiles. I've come to realize that he will indeed grow up but I do hope dearly that he has a little boy who is just like him. I ask him all the time, "Joshua, can you please have a little boy who is just like you when you're a daddy?" And he always agrees but usually adds, "But I'm not going to change his diaper." :) Oh we just love him. Jenni loves hearing stories about Joshua as a baby. He would not cuddle with us. He would nurse and nurse forever but if he wasn't being fed, he did not want to be resting in my arms. Quite different from Jenni who was our cuddle bug. Even coming home from the hospital Joshua would not sleep next to us. Thankfully we found it somewhat amusing but still dreamed of the day that he would desire to cuddle with us. Thankfully as he grew older that has changed and how do we love him even more for it. My favorite is if he wakes up before any one he will come downstairs and as he is climbing into our bed he says, "Mommy, mind me nestle with you for a little bit?" Yes, please. :)

Moving on Up

Jackson James has officially moved to the boys' room. He loves Joshua's room. He escapes to the upstairs and makes a beeline for Joshua's door. It's pretty sweet. Here's hoping for a smooth transition.

This boy is ECSTATIC about sharing a room with his brother. We bought Joshua bunk beds last year - a twin bed on top and a full bed on bottom. For now Jackson will stay in the crib but soon enough he will get to enjoy the bunks with Joshua.

Boys will be boys

One of my most favorite videos ever. Jenni and I were working in the school room while the little boys were entertaining each other. LOVE!

Belly Laughs

Jenni and I were working in the kitchen when we heard Jackson laughing in his crib after his nap. Sweet baby laughs might just be the best thing ever. :)

THE Pirate Key

The grocery trip innocently started with me parking the car and Joshua saying, "Mommy, turn around and look at my sweet face." :)

To make a very long story shorter, Joshua lost his Jake and the Never Land Pirates key. The pirate key came with a pirate sword that he got for Christmas last December. The pirate key became one of his many beloved toys. He has carried this key for eight months in his pocket, slept with it under his pillow, took baths with the key on the side of the tub. He loves this key.

While we were grocery shopping (and without me knowing) he placed his key in the produce section. After we returned to the car he said that he no longer had his key. Knowing how much this key meant to him, I was sad for him. Sweet, sweet Joshua told me he couldn't remember where he put his key so I drove away from the store. While I was driving he told Jenni that he sat the key down next to the watermelons and pineapples. We drove back to the store (with a gallon of ice cream slowly melting in the trunk) and decided to quickly look for his key. We went to the produce section and found the watermelons and pineapples and the kids searched high and low. We could not find the key. We decided to return home.

Well, Eric returned home from his trip late that evening. I told him the story and asked him if he thought I was crazy for being so sad for Joshua. He didn't think I was crazy at all. So that's that. Or we're both slightly crazy. But our boy loves his pirate key. So Eric decided that he would go out and search for it again. At midnight. Not fifteen minutes later, he texted me with the picture of the found key! Sure enough, it was between/under the pallets of watermelons and pineapples. Crazy, ridiculous story but an oh, so happy ending. :)

Backseat Laughs

Jenni was asleep in the backseat so the boys were left to creating their own backseat fun. Joshua loves finding ways to make Jackson laugh and Jackson loves any attention he gets from Joshua. So they make for a good team. This time, Joshua was shaking and wiggling like a crazy person and his little brother loved every second. :)

RAR!

We were trying to do schoolwork when a little boy had a lot of energy and needed to let out some RARs! Love the energy that a little boy has!
