Week 5 of Kindergarten

Bible Verse: ...walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us... (Ephesians 5:2).

Saxon Math 1

This week Jenni completed Lessons 21-25. We reviewed and practiced writing numbers, ordinal position to 7th, identifying the number of sides and angles of shapes, and counted by 1s and 10s to 100. This week Jenni also practiced writing number sentences and began learning addition facts - doubles to 10! Each morning in the Math Meeting Book (not pictured) Jenni reads the date, writes the full date (month, date, and year), graphs the weather (sunny, cloudy, rainy, snowy), counts using the hundred number chart, and reviews right and left.

All About Reading, Level 1

This week Jenni completed Lessons 20-21 and did a lot of reading. We reviewed all the consonant letter sounds, short vowel sounds, sight words the, a and of, and reviewed words learned previous lessons. New letter sounds included the constant team /ch/ as in child. Jenni blended sounds with our letter tiles, completed the activity sheets and games, practiced her new reading words and read from the fluency practice sheets. Also this week Jenni read the last new story from our AAR Level 1, Volume 1 book.

Joshua
Little man has been doing a lot of work with counting bears. He practices his colors, sorts the bears into the color coordinating cup, lines the bears up in rows of one and two, counts the bears, and then has fun knocking them all down. :)
