Week 7 of Kindergarten

Bible Verse: Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ (Philippians 1:27).

Saxon Math 1

Jenni completed Lessons 31-35. We reviewed and practiced writing numbers, ordinal position to sixth, and counted by 5s and 10s to 100. This week Jenni also practiced writing number sentences and reviewed addition facts - doubles to 20! She continues working on writing number sentences, drawing different ways to show a number, counting shapes and angles, and reviewing pennies. Each morning in the Math Meeting Book (not pictured) Jenni reads the date, writes the full date (month, date, and year), graphs the weather (sunny, cloudy, rainy, snowy), counts using the hundred number chart, and reviews right and left.

All About Reading, Level 1
Jenni reviewed Lessons 22 and 23. She blended sounds with our letter tiles, completed the activity sheets and games, practiced her reading words and read from the fluency practice sheets. This week we focused on words with blended sounds and Jenni continued reading stories from our AAR Level 1, Volume 1 and 2 books.

Explode the Code, Book 2
  Jenni finished Lesson 6
Initial consonant blends st, sw, tw

Daily Science

Big Idea 2, Week 2: Why do camels have humps?
We reviewed that camels live in the desert. The desert is hot and dry and there is not much food or water. Jenni learned that a camel stores fat in its hump. The fat helps the camel go without food for a long time. Jenni also learned that a camel has big feet to help it walk in sand and long eyelashes to keep sand out of its eyes.
